The ensemble aims to promote Tango culture through thematic performances, adaptable to grand theaters as well as intimate settings. These shows feature first-person narratives, brought to life by actress and dancer Mimma Mercurio, recounting the biographies of Tango legends such as Osvaldo Pugliese, Ada Falcón, Roberto Goyeneche, Astor Piazzolla, Azucena Maizani, Juan d’Arienzo, Mercedes Sosa, Carlos Gardel, Eladia Blázquez and others, and they have collaborated on numerous occasions with the Raccontango group, also directed by Mimma Mercurio.
Flirtango maintains an active partnership with FAItango Webradio, providing music for literary competitions, themed Tango evenings, and theatrical productions. Their work is regularly showcased in the digital magazine Tango y Gotan and featured in FAItango’s popular podcasts further enriching the cultural dialogue surrounding Tango.

The Raccontango group was founded in July 2021 as part of a project by Faitango’s web radio. In 2023, the dramatized reading course for radio, which always begins in September, produced six radio episodes dedicated to the “Great Women of Tango.” Under the direction of Mimma Mercurio and with technical support from journalist Giuseppe Speccher, the group collaborated via Zoom, bringing together participants from various Italian cities.
Now in its third consecutive year, the Raccontango project continues to be regularly broadcast on Faitango’s radio program, becoming one of its flagship shows, followed with great interest. It offers an entertaining way to learn about and explore the legends of tango.

Mimma is a professional dancer and actress with extensive training in tango under renowned maestros like Pablo Verón and a diploma in acting from the Teatro Stabile di Catania. She has performed in theater with acclaimed directors and actors, including Ermanno Olmi and Luca Ronconi, and is the co-founder of the Meditango School, where she has produced and directed numerous tango and theater shows. Mimma has performed internationally, collaborating with orchestras like Colortango and Grand Tango Ensemble, and participating in prestigious festivals such as the Ostia Antica Festival and the Meditango Festival, which she organized for nearly a decade. Her notable projects include starring in the opera María de Buenos Aires and performing in Luis Bacalov’s Y Borges cuenta que…. Mimma also leads Tangolab, an annual tango seminar and research initiative, and has collaborated with Pablo Verón since 2017 on various teaching and performance projects. Additionally, she works with the Flirtango Orchestra, blending tango and theater in innovative productions.
