

Flirtango is an internationally renowned tango ensemble dedicated to promoting the rich culture of tango through captivating thematic and biographical performances, blending music and dance in a unique and immersive experience.
It has become a point of reference in Rome’s tango dance evenings (the famous ‘milongas’) and participates in events, marathons and festivals throughout Italy and over the world. Flirtango has performed over 100 concerts in Italy and around the world.

THEMATIC PERFORMANCE

The ensemble aims to promote Tango culture through thematic performances, adaptable to grand theaters as well as intimate settings. These shows feature first-person narratives, brought to life by actress and dancer Mimma Mercurio, recounting the biographies of Tango legends such as Osvaldo Pugliese, Ada Falcón, Roberto Goyeneche, Astor Piazzolla, Azucena Maizani, Juan d’Arienzo, Mercedes Sosa, Carlos Gardel, Eladia Blázquez and others.
They maintain a dynamic collaboration with FAItango Webradio, supplying music for literary competitions, themed tango evenings, and theatrical performances. Their work is regularly showcased in the digital magazine Tango y Gotan and featured in FAItango’s podcasts.

international tours
In 2023, the Flirtango Orchestra embarked on a South American tour, performing in Argentina and Uruguay. In Argentina, they graced iconic venues like the porteño bar Sanata in Buenos Aires, Milonga La Piucarina in Rosario, the Milonga della Casa del Tango in Rosario, and gave a concert at the renowned tango bar El Cairo in Rosario. In Uruguay, they performed at the artistic market of Valizas and the main square of Piriápolis.
During this journey, they had the privilege of deepening their knowledge of tango with the renowned pianist and arranger Javier Lo Re, as well as pianist Lucía Oubiña.
In the same year, the Flirtango Orchestra traveled to Lebanon under the artistic direction of Carine Khoury-Raphael, a Lebanese dancer who, after hearing their music in Rome, proposed a collaboration. This gave rise to a tour rich in events: a concert at the Cultural Art Space Dar al Mona in Batroun, a charity concert at the Onomatopoeia Cultural Center in Beirut, a performance at the Hammam Al-Jadeed museum in Saida in collaboration with the Sharqy Foundation, a lively milonga at the Al Bustan Hotel in Ain Saadeh, and, finally, a closing concert at the iconic venue Hole in the Wall in Beirut.
The Flirtango Orchestra was invited to the Hong Kong Tango Festival, under the management of dancer Antimo Russo as the main orchestra, collaborating with local musicians and those from Taiwan. They performed at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, providing the musical accompaniment for the performances of renowned international dance couples such as Pablo Verón and Sol Alzamora, Miguel Angel Zotto and Daiana Guspero, Antimo Russo and Sunny Cao, Beau Kim and Edison Chaves, Takashi and Megumi Koguchi, and Sumire Muramoto and Tamai Katsunori, along with many others from various nationalities, including Korea, China, Japan, and Colombia.










OUR WORK IN ITALY
The Flirtango Orchestra regularly performs at festivals, cultural events, and theaters across Italy, captivating audiences with its energy and passion for tango. Notable appearances include the International Trani Tango Festival, the Aniene Festival in Rome featuring special guest Pablo Verón, the Udine Castello Festival alongside flutist Raúl Dosset, the Tango Cultura e Sapori Festival at the Salone Margherita in Naples, the Notte delle Stelle in Capri, the Music Festival in Latina, and the Festival delle Storie at Isola del Liri, accompanied by dancers Claudia Del Greco and Andrea Angione, among many others.
It has achieved sold-out success in numerous performances, including: Sueños de Tango at Teatro Manzoni in Rome, featuring the Embrujo Tango Company and dancers Francesca Del Buono and Santiago Castro; Noche Encantada at Teatro dei Ginnasi in Rome, with Matilde Beccaria and Dennys Fernández; Storie di Corteggiamento e Amore at Auditorium Petruzzi in Pescara and the former Tricalle Church in Chieti, with dancers Michela Toro, Matteo Faricciotti, Mariano Navone, and Zuleika Fusco; and Pugliese VS Piazzolla at Teatro Arteatrio in Rome, starring Mimma Mercurio, Mariano Navone, Fabiana Fusaro, and Eduardo Moyano.
Additionally, the ensemble has headlined numerous milongas and tango marathons across Italy, including: Milonga Sala Liberty (Rome), Milonga Sunderland (Rome), the thematic show ComerTango (Rome), Milonga della Tangofficina (Rome), Milonga de la Luna (Rome), Milonga in Polignano a Mare, Milonga at TangoLoft (Rome), Villa Rezzonico Tango Marathon (Bassano del Grappa), Milonga del Treno (Milan) and Milonga Zotto Tango Academy (Milan). The list goes on, showcasing the versatility and charisma of an ensemble that has made an indelible mark on the Italian tango scene.
